If you don’t write it down it didnt really happen…
Huh, What?
So, whats this place all about? Well, I'm Ed and I'm kind of a technology addict so there may be some of that. I'm also the proud owner of a phone addiction borderlining on obsession so there may be some of that. Whatever it is, it's me...
I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a very happy New Year! I cant believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted. It’s been a crazy few months and I now find myself unable to think of a good way to get this place going again… I know, I’ll post a video from youtube…
This has recently come up in conversation around me again! I find it funny how there are some people that are so sure that you can unlock your car door with a cell phone, seriously people, this simply can’t work! The theory is that if you lock your keys in the car you can call someone with the spare key fob and have them click it into the phone to unlock your car. I wouldn’t waste any of my own time to trying something so ridiculous but recently found this video. Yup, that’s what I thought…
It was my first GTEC experience and it was a blast! I didn’t get any of the free toys but I hear that some people did so maybe I didn’t look in the right places? I started my GTEC experience with a workshop on projectors followed by a session from Motorola where I saw some toys I will never use (unless I join the police or the military), interesting none the less. The afternoon was a little more usefull and consisted of sessions on firewalls and the future of IM/IT in the public service. Day 2 was the most interesting to me with an all day session on VMware.
As for the exhibits, there was plenty to see with my favorite booths being Telus and Blackberry (no surprise). The Microsoft booth was also pretty neat, complete with a surface on display! Unfortunately the surface was not quite working as it should and I could tell that the girl doing the demo was a little overwhelmed. Probably didn’t help that there was a guy recording her demo on his iPhone.
Good sessions, fun exhibits, all in all good times, I look forward to next year!
